Target Arts

I’ve been interning with Citi Performing Arts Center’s Education Department since September of 2010, mostly with the Target Arts Program as an Assistant Teaching Artist. I have to say, the experience has been like none other. I’ve been involved in the Wicked, Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and Shen Yun Performing Arts residencies, and each one focused on a very different theme in the classroom. I’ve assisted high school seniors in devising their own performance about individuality, cheered on third graders as they learned to embrace various cultural holiday traditions through dance, and helped fourth graders connect performance with their literature based classroom skills through storytelling. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with multiple teaching artists and really take in all their knowledge and skills in classroom leadership and directing. Because of my experiences with Citi, I am now confident enough to take on creating and teaching two classes of my own this spring for another group while continuing my fourth Target Arts Residency. Thank you!
