Rogers Middle School-Target Arts Showcase Soon to Come

I can’t believe we are two weeks away from the final performance for the Target Arts Program with the Rogers Middle School! Today we had an extremely productive rehearsal. As one student said, “It is all coming together.” This is one aspect of the performing arts process that does not change. Through hard work, perseverance and a little bit of faith, it all comes together in the end.
After twelve weeks of learning about the process of creating, writing and performing, we are putting the finishing touches on our show. We are adding interesting layers to characters, pushing the student actors to speak “louder and prouder,” and encouraging them to commit 100% to their performances. We are rehearsing transitions and perfecting dances. We are memorizing lines and blocking. We are working as an ensemble to show what we have created.
As we near the end of the program, I can’t help but reflect on what a learning experience these last twelve weeks have been for me as a teaching artist. I have learned over the years that each program brings a new set of accomplishments, challenges and experiences. This program has been no exception. I plan to take everything I’ve learned with me to my next teaching experience!
I look forward to our rehearsal tomorrow and the performance next week!
