2016 Workshop Development Teaching Artist Assistant

Coming from a family that values creative thinking, it almost seemed destined that Courtney would develop a similar appreciation for artistic expression at an early age. Ever since he could hold a pencil in his hand he had an uncanny dedication to developing his skills as a visual artist, drawing inspiration from anything and everything around him. His dated collection of comic books, paintings from his mother, uncles, and aunts that decorate his home, his father’s extensive collection of records and even his favorite Saturday morning cartoons helped him keep the creative juices flowing. His love for drawing quickly lead him to discovering his passion for art of all mediums, as he later tried his hand at performing arts as well. After being referred to Wang Center’s Education department by his middle school English teacher, he participated in many of the theater workshops they have to offer, including playing some key roles in many Shakespearian plays. In August of 2010, Courtney enrolled in the small liberal arts school that is Bucknell University in Pennsylvania from which he earned his degree in Sociology.  Today, Courtney is back home in Boston, where he is continuing his growth as an artist and educator and hopes to simultaneously assist in the growth of others with similar aspirations.
