Mary is a bilingual teacher and freelance dancer originally from Rhode Island. As an educator, Mary values inquiry and student centered learning. As a performer she values risk taking and authenticity. She holds a B.A in Spanish from Colorado College and is certified in elementary education for grades one through six, receiving her Masters of Arts in Teaching from Brown University in 2015. Mary has worked with children and adults of all ages while teaching and performing throughout the U.S, Mexico, Ecuador and Puerto Rico. Since 2013 she has been performing with Boston based Zoe Dance presenting work at the Boston Center for the Arts, Somerville’s Art Beat, Boston’s Outside the Box Festival, the Dance Complex’s Catalyst series, South Boston Illuminus Festival and the Boston Conservatory’s Alumni Weekend 2015. Most recently Mary’s own choreography has been shown in Ten Tiny Dances at Providence RI’s PVD Fest and the Jose Mateo Dance for World Community Festival in Cambridge. Through this work Mary feeds her love for exploration and encourages others to recognize the arts as ways of knowing.
